Jovan Jeromela is a PhD candidate at ADAPT Centre, Trinity College Dublin. Jovan’s research work is at the confluence of human-computer interaction, time management agents, and explainability. His works aims to understand user willingness to scrutinise their intelligent personal agents and to steer the underlying personalised behaviour.

Jovan has also worked on counterfactual and semifactual explanation generation for reinforcement learning systems as well on intelligent multimodal user interfaces for information retrieval. While at a placement in IBM research, Jovan has worked on automating risk assessment and AI governance for large language models.

Before joining Trinity College Dublin, Jovan had earned two undergraduate degrees: a BSc-Hon. in Software & Information Engineering from TU Wien and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Novi Sad, as well as a master’s degree in Data Science from TU Wien. Jovan’s bachelor’s thesis proposed a new formal argumentation framework, whereas his master’s thesis focused on social network engagement prediction and recommender systems.

Jovan is a passionate skier, runner, and rower. In his free time, he listens to countless podcasts and his favourite book series is Foundation by Isaac Asimov.
